NoJo Crib Bedding Review and Giveaway!

My hubby and I were talking about crib bedding the other day and he asked me a very smart question – if crib bumpers are so dangerous, then why do crib bedding manufacturers still include them in the bedding sets? He’s right. This is the reason with baby #1 I didn’t get a bedding set. I didn’t need the comforter (until she was much older) and I wouldn’t use the bumpers, so all I was left with was sheets and a bed skirt. I’ve seen a lot of crib bedding sets I love, but it just seemed like a waste to spend money on items I would never use.

When I received my NoJo Bedding set in “Pretty in Purple” I immediately noticed on the bag that there were two crib sheets included. I’ve never seen that with any other company so it was a nice surprise. When I took all the items out of the bag to wash them, I also noticed the bumpers were missing. I know the bag was sealed, but how can the bumpers not be included? (Not that I would have used them anyway.) So I looked back on the bag and although the picture showed the bedding scene complete with bumpers and other items from the collection that are sold separately, the product list on the bag did not mention bumpers were included. Just that simple fact that bumpers weren’t included impressed me more than the adorable design I was sent to review. For the first time I felt that a company was taking the initiative in eliminating the hazard associated with SIDS and crib bumpers. Not all moms know the risks and warnings despite all the information out there about bumpers, so if the bumpers are included in the bedding set, chances are the majority of moms would use them anyway.

Included in my 9 piece bedding set was:
comforter
window valence
bed skirt
2 sheets
diaper stacker
3 wall decorations

The only item in the set I wouldn’t use is the window valence because I would need two, but that’s not a big deal. Everything else in the set would actually get used and I didn’t feel that I would be spending money on unused pieces if I purchased this set. Another item I didn’t have with my older baby was a diaper stacker, since I never purchased a traditional crib bedding set. I did have a small diaper stacker that came with her playpen, but it was small and didn’t hold many diapers once she got into size 2. The diaper stacker that is included in the NoJo set is very big and can accomodate larger sized diapers and even all in one cloth diapers (which is what I will be using after my newborn is a few weeks old.)

The wall decorations came in handy because we recently redecorated my toddler’s room. The kids will be sharing a room, and my toddler asked if we could change her moon and stars theme to a purple flower theme. In the locations where I had 3 soft wall decorations, we placed 3 wall stickers instead to hide the holes from the nails, but now that we have the matching wall decorations from the Pretty in Purple NoJo bedding set, we will be using those.

If you have had a baby then you know that 1 set of sheets just doesn’t cut it. Simply put, babies leak. A lot. Whether they are spitting up, peeing, or pooping, there is sure to be a mess and a need to change sheets frequently. Even if you do laundry religiously, you always need a backup. Having two sheets that come with a bedding set is convenient. I love that there are two different patterns to change things up a little, but they both match the set. The collection is exclusive to Babies R Us.
