I’m generally not a fan of prepackaged or frozen foods, but there are some days where I am just too busy to pull together a meal for my family. I have a few requirements of my prepackaged foods before they enter my home: #1, they need to taste good. #2, they cannot contain high fructose corn syrup. #3, they cannot contain artificial flavors or colors. With that in mind, you can imagine I read labels A LOT.
When I was growing up, Ellio’s pizza was a favorite of mine. My mom always had a box in the freezer for me, and it was easy enough that as a preteen, I was able to make it on my own as an after-school meal. I can’t remember a time when Ellios wasn’t in my freezer, until I got married, moved out, and swore off prepackaged foods. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my second baby and I had this insatiable craving for Ellio’s. It is on sale a lot at my local supermarket, so when I was doing my weekly food shopping, I decided to give in to my craving and at the very least, read the ingredients on the box. I was very impressed that they used REAL cheese, their own sauce, and didn’t contain any of the previously mentioned, banned ingredients.
As you can imagine, I couldn’t wait to get home and relive my childhood memories with Ellio’s. Even my picky toddler loves it and this is one of the few frozen foods I allow her to eat. Just like my mom, I now always have a box or two of Ellio’s in my freezer at all times. There have been a few times where lunch or dinner was just impossible to get on the table, and my husband and I decided to pop a few Ellio’s in the oven. He loves to add pepperoni on his, while I love chopped black olives. It’s great that you can customize each pizza to suit your tastebuds!
