Lamaze Crib Soother (#Giveaway!) #TOMYtoys

Since my infant is recovering from a fractured collarbone, I’ve noticed that she doesn’t like spending time in her swing, bouncer, highchair, or any other position that would keep her slightly elevated. She has always preferred to be o a flat surface, and now I finally know why! It wasn’t until we found out she was born with a fractured collarbone that we realized these positions are uncomfortable for her. Knowing this, we now put her down on flat surfaces. She spends a lot of time in her play gym and in her crib. You can imagine, this can be quite boring throughout the day. Luckily we are always on the go, so the time spent home is minimal.

Since she was spending so much time in her crib, it was time to add some fun toys that she can look at and play with. The Lamaze
Pond Friends Soother is the perfect crib toy because it features lights and music. Since my infant is use to her play gym which makes sound when she kicks it, she thinks the Lamaze Pond Friends Soother does the same- I often catch her kicking it to see if it will turn on or change sounds. The soother is not motion activated, but I do like that there are 3 melodies and 1 soothing nature sound, along with lights that can alternate or go along with the sound playing at the time. If you don’t want the lights on, which can be distracting at night, they work independently from the music and can be shut off.

My infant really does show interest in her soother, which make me love it even more. If I were to change just one thing about the soother, it would be to not play a little jingle when it is first turned on. Sometimes I will put her down right before she falls asleep and play her the nature sound to soother her and encourage her to fall asleep on her own. If the unit is off, the jingle startles her. This can be avoided by always having the unit on standby.

Another great feature is that I can connect my iPhone to the soother to play the classical music I have for her in my phone. I always played Baby Einstein classics for my oldest and she loved them, so I do the same for my youngest, who seems to enjoy them as well. This breaks up the monotony of the same sounds over and over again. Any parent will tell you that it’s the repetition in the sounds that make children’s toys annoying at times!
