SleepSafe Tips for Baby + HALO SleepSack Giveaway!

September is Baby Safety Month! I think that parents generally try to exercise safety at all times with their children, but it is nice to have a month where safety precautions can be shared and parents can learn tips that would ensure the safety of their child. One of my biggest fears when I had my oldest daughter was SIDS. I heard so much about it and even had a friend who’s relative died at a young age from SIDS. There are so many theories and ideas on why SIDS happens, but one thing is for sure: never put a small child in a crib with bumpers, blankets, or stuffed animals. Anything that can suffocate the child should be avoided, and the younger the child, the greater risk of suffocation.

Regardless of the heat being on in the winter, the bedrooms in my house get especially cold because our windows are very large. Last year I purchased heavy black out shades for the bedrooms and this helped tremendously. My girls still need to be covered at night, so I choose to use HALO SleepSacks to keep them warm safely at night. Our first SleepSack was purchased on a whim- I was only 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I decided to take a walk around Babies R Us with a friend who was also pregnant at the time. I found a Santa themed fleece SleepSack on clearance and figured I would get some use out of it. This was my first purchase for our first baby, and was probably one of the best products I still own for baby #2.

Once my toddler started walking, we moved her into SleepSack Early Walkers which have feet, as opposed to just the sack. This made it easier for her to walk while being bundled. A few times I had to bring her out at night when leaving grandma’s house, and I bundled her with her Early Walker SleepSack to keep her extra warm!

Now, with my infant, I am more aware of the products that SleepSack has, and I have a few in every size. I love that they keep my baby safe and warm, plus she can’t kick off her covers. This is important so that I can make sure she stays warm throughout the night, while also making sure she is sleeping safely without having loose blankets in her crib.

With Baby Safety Month in September and SIDS Awareness Month in October, I wanted to share a few SafeSleep tips with you. You can head over to HALO to view these tips. While you are there, be sure to connect with HALO on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to stay in the know on their latest products, styles, and promotions.
