When Shopkins first made their introduction, I didn’t think it would be as popular as it was. As I watched my girls and their friends open up blind bag after blind bag I just didn’t see the potential. Now Shopkins are as popular as ever, and the Grossery Gang is following suit in their third season. The third season of Grossery Gang joins the Moose Toys team with a launch of their ickiest grocery items to date. 150 new characters were introduced and while the Grossery Gang is geared towards boys, my girls played with them seamlessly and added their own Shopkins to the mix. It was interesting watching their overall gameplay, having the dirty Grossery Gang characters join their prissy Shopkins.
The launch of the 3rd season of Grossery Gang also marks an important milestone for Moose Toys. They’ve also introduced their first ever film, Putrid Power: The Grossery Gang vs. The Clean Team. The 33 minute film is available on YouTube and highlights a fun storyline of The Grossery Gang being super heroes in their own way. Check out the Grossery Gang short film on YouTube!
My girls had some interesting reactions to each Grossery Gang member they pulled out of the blind bags. I heard shrieks and icks followed by sheepish giggles. They commented that they could almost smell how bad some of the items would be if they were faced with them in real life. When asked to compare Grossery Gang with Shopkins, they both had different opinions. My oldest felt that Grossery Gang was better because they were “squishy,” while my other daughter stated that she loved the both the same and would combine both sets together, which is exactly what they did.
At the end of the day, these seemingly silly toys can still be a great educational tool. My girls share and combine their figurines and create interesting story lines which enhance creative and imaginative play. You can find out more about Grossary Gang by visiting their YouTube Channel.
