I desperately needed an intervention. I know what most people say: “Don’t be so hard on yourself, trying to lose all that baby weight.” But for me, it was so much more than losing the weight. I wanted more energy to be able to handle both kids, I wanted to be in shape, not necessarily a size 4, but to be able to go up and down the stairs without being winded. My last pregnancy took all that energy out of me and left me feeling sluggish long after my baby came.
I heard the wonders of Zumba but let’s face it, I couldn’t get out of the house long enough to take a class for myself. By the time I was able to get some “me time” I didn’t want to leave the house. So, instead, I decided to take the Zumba Challenge and use my Wii to get myself in shape! I used Zumba Fitness Core and tried it for the past month. Here are my results with you:
Week 1 (Nov 1-8)
Actually, let’s start at day 1.. I received my copy of the game on November 1, and what a great day to start a new routine! The first few days were quite a challenge.. I really don’t know how I’m going to make it through the next month. While the “game” was fun and upbeat, I felt exhausted after the first song. My hubby got a kick out of watching me dance around the living room, and my toddler loves to dance with me and follow the people on the screen.
By the 5th day, I felt that I was able to do more. I also noticed this depended on what I ate throughout the day, and how hydrated I was. Whenever you are trying to lose weight, always keep your H2O in mind!
Week 2 (Nov 9-15)
This is getting easier, and the wide selection of music on Zumba Fitness Core keeps me from getting bored. Zumba Fitness Core has quickly made it into our routine, and although it is hard to keep up everyday, I feel that the days I don’t work out, I regret it because I feel better about myself when I do work out. I’ve had a few friends come over, and when I told them about Zumba Fitness Core, they wanted to try it out. They all agreed that this is something that is easy to stick to, because when the weather gets colder, many of them don’t want to go out of the house to take a class.
Week 3 (Nov 16-22)
My pre-pregnancy jeans fit! I don’t know if it has to do with working out 4 times a week, or if it’s just my body going back to normal after baby, but it doesn’t matter- I feel great! I also feel that I have more energy, which is why I wanted to start a workout routine to begin with. Even with the weather getting colder, I find myself not wanting to just sit on the couch any more. I bundle up my girls and we go for walks and even to the park- little ones need to run around in the winter too!
Week 4 (Nov 23-30)
My hubby asked me if I lost weight! The answer is: I’ve only lost a few pounds, but my clothes fit better and I look leaner. Remember: muscle weighs more than fat- so if you are working out regularly, you may not see a change in the scale, although you may feel and look better! I’m not going to say that it was solely Zumba Fitness Core that helped me feel and look better, but it did help get myself into a routine that I can stick to, and one that is cheaper than going to the gym or taking classes.
