Tracfone is super economical if you don't use your cell phone that much. It's the only company I know that offers cell phone service for $6.66/month and offers a cell phone plan for my family of 4 costing a mere $27.96/month. 50 Minutes for me and the rest of the family gets 40 minutes each.
Tracfone even offers the cheapest cell phone on the market for Granny and Grandpa at $14.99 which has bigger keys and letters on the screen and is hearing aid friendly, the SVC Samsung T155G.

I'd much rather use Tracfone's prepaid plans to help me save money for college education and retirement funds.
