A few years ago we had a surprise visitor in October. The Switch Witch graced us with her presence and brought a storybook to explain that her realm is in desperate need of candy. You see, in the Halloween world, candy is used to power everything from lights to water heaters. Without candy, our Switch Witch wouldn’t have electricity. So, she asked our kids to compile as much candy as they possibly can from Trick or Treating, and leave it out for her on Halloween night. The very next day, she promised she would bring a special present for each child to thank them for collecting the candy. My kids get to keep about 10-20 pieces of candy from Trick or Treating for themselves, and the rest they leave out for their special friend. This has worked well for about 3 years, and in reality, our candy gets donated to the troops through Operation Gratitude.
The kids have put in requests for toys, but The Switch Witch brings along whatever she sees fit. After all, she’s not Santa! If you are considering inviting The Switch Witch to your home this year, a fun themed toy was just released from Playmobil. The Playmobil Take Along Haunted House will keep the kids thinking of Halloween a little longer with the spooky house that includes a fun, haunted scene of Frankenstein, a mad scientist, and Dracula. Setup was a breeze- I’ve learned to put together Playmobil sets on my own and then have the kids play because they get so excited that pieces fly everywhere. My oldest, at 9 years old, can put these sets together on her own and understands taking the directions step by step. My younger daughter, at age 6, wants to find the setup completed for her before she starts playing.
My favorite thing about the Playmobil Take Along Haunted House is how compact it is in size and the ease of storing all the pieces. The set folds up into itself and closes, making it neat to store and easy to take along on trips. Sets like this I tend to keep in the car after the kids get bored of them after a while because I can pull them out when we go places and it’s like the set is new to them again.
You can purchase the Playmobil Take Along Haunted House on Amazon, as well as other retailers. Find out more about this and other Playmobil sets by visiting them online. I know that Playmobil is our personal favorite because of their attention to detail. My kids are always excited to check out the latest Playmobil sets, and they even have a product line, Playmobil 1.2.3, for younger kids, like my 3 year old son, that is geared for smaller hands without pieces that pose choking hazards. All other Playmobil sets are ages 4 and up.
