I love this time of year for so many reasons, but seeing family I haven’t seen in a while is the biggest one of all. While I make it a point to see close family regularly, there are those who live too far away to see more than once or twice a year. There is nothing like Christmas in New York, especially when there is so much to see and do in your backyard!
As my kids get older, they become more aware of how lucky they are to live in such a vibrant city. Just last week I took my daughter and my niece to an amazing backstage experience at Radio City to see the Rockettes. The girls were so excited to experience a walk through Times Square, a warm pretzel, seeing the big Christmas tree up close, and even enjoyed one of those infamous dirty water hotdogs. They got warm fuzzy hats from a street vendor and have been talking about going back again during their Christmas break.
Living in NY we take all this for granted, but having the experience through your child’s eyes makes it even more magical. Having a husband who is a Social Studies teacher helps, because he can really bring NY history to life as we stroll through the busy streets.
Next week we will be taking our kids on an amazing adventure to One World Observatory. The festivities for Holiday Week at One World Observatory kick off today Wednesday December 21st with Kids Day which runs from 2-6:30pm. Here’s some more info for today’s experience:
