I chose not to carpet my home for many reasons. The number one reason was because I feel that carpets harbor allergens, but coming in at very close second is keeping carpets stain free. In my own experience, there really is no winning with carpets – if you have a light carpet, well that’s just a stain waiting to happen. If you have a dark carpet, EVERY speck of dust shows up on it. I went along with a creme colored area rug to place under my dining room table. I know what you are thinking – Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t look very good on a creme colored carpet. Coffee stains, wine stains, and even guacamole stains are lingering on my gorgeous carpet – and I have chosen to ignore them all these years. They aren’t very big stains, but enough to drive me crazy when they do catch my eye. I really thought there was nothing I could do about it.
When I was chosen to work with BISSELL on their new Stomp ‘N Go campaign, I thought this would be a great opportunity to try something new on these deep stains. I wasn’t overly optimistic, as wine is especially hard to remove. When I received my sample, I immediately got on my hands and knees and strategically placed this nifty Stomp ‘N Go pad on top of the offending stain. After that I rubbed it down with my foot and hoped it would work. I left it on for a while, actually most of the day – since this stain has been sitting there for a very long time. When my husband came home I decided to check on the pad and noticed that the white Stomp ‘N Go pad had turned pinkish. I lifted up the pad and the stain was GONE! I had previously used a rug shampooer that couldn’t even get that stain out! There is a hint of residual stain left over, but I attribute that to the stain being set in for so long. My husband doesn’t even notice it but I still see it there.
I wanted to try the other sample I received on my coffee stain, but I decided I needed to try something else out first. I took a new Stomp ‘N Go pad to my moms house to test it on a cat urine stain. My beloved feline has a very bad temper. If she doesn’t get what she wants, she takes it out on my moms rug – which is one of the reasons she never came to live with me when I got married. I thought the transition wouldn’t sit well with her, and I didn’t want her to take it out on my new home. I used the pad in the same manner, and VOILA! the stain was gone. The urine stain seemed much easier to remove and actually removed thoroughly. There isn’t a trace left over. Needless to say, BISSELL has made believers out of my mom and I, so we will definitely be purchasing more – some to have on hand (because we all know that stains come out easier if you treat them immediately) and a few to take care of the stains already lingering on our rugs.
The pads are portable and safe to use on all carpets, including nylon, wool, and stain resistant carpet. The spots are gone in about 30 minutes, but if the stain is old, it may take up to 24 hours.
So, what makes these unique pads work so well?
Using a powerful oxy-based formula, the pre-moistened pads make cleaning easy and fun. Simply place the pad on a spot or stain and stomp on it. Upon stomp, the pad begins working, lifting and removing the mess. You can actually see the stain being absorbed into the pad. There is no need for scrubbing or using other cleaning tools – the pad does all the work.
BISSELL Stomp ‘N Go® pads are currently available at Kmart, grocery stores and select Wal-Mart stores for $4.99. Each package contains five individually wrapped pads.
