It’s a shock that we haven’t been to the American Girl Store, considering it’s pretty close to our home in NYC. My girls have asked to go a few times, but timing just hasn’t worked out. I even tried to plan a girl scout trip to the American Girl store in the city, but it just didn’t pan out. Luckily, we don’t have to actually visit the store to find the perfect doll for my girls. The draw to American Girl is having a girl who looks just like you, and even has certain characteristics that match the girl.
My middle daughter has been asking for an American Girl doll for years. She finally got her wish granted on her 7th birthday when American Girl sent her a doll who looks just like her, as well as a fun summer-camp themed playset to go along with her doll. We chose her American Girl Truly Me (#69) which not only matched my daughter’s hair and skin tone, but also her taste in clothing. The Truly Me dolls are unique from other dolls in the American Girl product line because you can name them whatever you want! My daughter decided to name her doll Annie!
Along with Annie, we also received a few furniture sets to get her started on her American Girl journey. Did you know that each American Girl doll has a storyline to go along with her character? My oldest daughter often reads the American Girl books and can tell us all about the girls and their accomplishments. I love a “toy” that not only fosters creativity and imagination but also offers a unique story that girls can look up to. Since our girl, Annie, is a Truly Me doll, we get to make the story for her. According to my daughter, she loves to camp, swim, and play games with her friends. So, the Camp American Girl Hangout is the perfect accessory starter for this tale! The Camp American Girl Hangout leaves no stone unturned with the attention to detail. Check out the crocheted blanket, fluffy pillows, and even the pictures of Annie’s friends on the wall! Annie is quite the social butterfly!
When Annie isn’t relaxing in the hangout, she loves to swim in her pool. The CampAmerican Girl Swimming Pool is envy-worthy! It comes with a unicorn floaty, a chair to relax on, a beach towel, a book to read, a canvas bag, and even a game of tic tac toe! Annie spends a lot of time at her pool!
Annie has friends at camp, and they like to play games together. The Camp American Girl Outdoor Game set includes everything the girls need for lots of fun and memory making. My daughter has been on this archery kick for about a year now, and unfortunately, the archery centers in our area will not allow her to participate until she’s at least 12. The American Girl Outdoor Game set includes an archery set big enough for the American Girl Doll, and my daughter can teach Annie how to play. There’s also a football to toss around and a game of cornhole, so every girl can play a game they love.
Before bedtime, Annie loves to sit by the campfire with her friends and roast hot dogs. There’s a blanket to keep them warm and a bench to sit on. The Camp American Girl Campfire set also includes a working guitar big enough for your American Girl Doll, and the included fire pit lights up and plays crackling campfire sounds, camp songs, and you can even attach your own device with the included cord to play your own music.
Since this is our first American Girl set, I can see what all the rave is about. There is attention to detail in everything American Girl distributes, and they offer a ton of accessories that can match any girl’s interests and personality. You can find out more about the sets we included in our review, as well as other American Girl Dolls and accessories by visiting American Girl.
