We nicknamed my toddler “Tinker Bell” because she is a true tinker. She loves to manipulate toys and objects to see what they can do and how they can work differently. We had the opportunity to Review the Sunshine Market from Discovery Toys and she played with it for a while, without getting bored! There are so many features with this one toy, it kept her engaged and tinkering away!
Already having the typical shape sorting toys, the Sunshine Market took her knowledge of shape discrimination to the next level. These shapes were not the typical square, triangle, circle that she was use to. Instead she had fish, bread, and prism-like shapes to sort in her market. With a fun shopping basket included – which also stores all the pieces when she is done playing, she had fun sorting the shapes and watching them fall into the rolling basket. She even discovered that there were MORE shape sorting cut outs inside of the market.
Considering this is a simple toy with no lights and sounds, she had a great time with the fun shapes and the vibrant colors. This would be a great preschool, homeschool, or even occupational therapy toy. Children can learn to manipulate pieces to learn more about the toy and apply these skills to the world around them. This toy retails at $30 and is best suited for children 19m through preschool. I would recommend this toy for all that it has to offer!
