Although I may not always follow my own advice, I truly feel that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for toddlers. I notice in my toddler that when she eats a healthy breakfast, she is a much more pleasant child. The days that she skips breakfast or doesn’t eat much, she tends to be crankier and more tired. Unfortunately getting breakfast into her belly is a task each morning. Her pediatrician advised to just let her eat what she wants when she wants, but as a mom I still worry that she should eat a substantial breakfast.
Most mornings when we are home, she can take up to an hour or more to finish her breakfast. This is totally unacceptable and drives me up a wall. The mornings that we are out and about she doesn’t eat breakfast at home at all. She expressed interest in cereal bars and I give them to her during snack time, but lately I’ve been letting her eat them for breakfast as well. They are easy for on the go and she really seems to enjoy them. Her favorite is the Earth’s Best Strawberry Banana Cereal Bars. I always keep a box in the car and paired with Earth’s Best Fruit and Yogurt Smoothies it makes for a really healthy breakfast. By the time we get to our destination, her belly is full of fruit, yogurt, and grains, plus I can feel good about what is going into her body because it is from Earth’s Best!
