I haven’t met a child who doesn’t love Elmo at some point or another during toddlerhood. My oldest daughter would have me fast forward each episode of Sesame Street until we reached Elmo’s world. My younger daughter loved all her older sister’s Elmo toy hand-me-downs and squealed with joy when we took her to see Sesame Street Live. My son at 4 months is still too young to understand, but I’d be shocked if he showed anything less than adoration for the lovable red monster.
When I announced to a few friends and cousins that we would be hosting an Elmo party, their initial reaction was confusion- did they miss someone’s birthday? No, we just love Elmo so much, we are celebrating the launch of the new toy- Play All Day Elmo from Hasbro! Just in time for the holidays, I’m sure Play All Day Elmo will be on a lot of children’s wish lists. Parents can appreciate the two modes of play- Toddler and Preschool, which means Play All Day Elmo will be sticking around for some time with extended modes of play for various ages.
The biggest thing about this new Elmo toy is the interactive features which kids will love. There are 8 games and activities to play with Elmo, two modes of play- preschool and toddler, and over 150 responses from the furry monster. The biggest differences in preschool and toddler mode is the developmentally appropriate games. In preschool mode you will find basic games that enhance cause and effect learning- squeezing Elmo’s nose for a reaction, tickling Elmo and clapping his hands.
Preschool mode is a little more involved, with games like Pat a Cake, Freeze Dance, Elmo says, and more. Elmo knows when you are turning him upside down, swinging him from side to side, and when naptime is near he will play a lullaby. This Elmo sure is big in size, but not in weight. He is easy to snuggle with at the end of the day and can be turned off so as not to wake your child.
At the end of the party our guests took away two parting gifts – Playskool Friends My Little Pony Musical Celebration Castle and Playskool Heroes Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex. Both toys retail at $29.99 each. The My Little Pony set offers a lot of fun with a spinning dance floor, party music, a working elevator and a slide. Tyrannosaurus Rex roars and chomps, exciting any dinosaur fan. There’s even a mini human figure that he might gobble up! Both toys are available at toy retailers and HasbroToyShop.com
