All three of my children have different tastes when it comes to their tv preferences. My oldest loves action shows, my middle daughter loves girlie shows and my little guy loves anything that has animals. The one thing they can all agree on is anything with music, as they find tunes from any show to be very catchy. It is rare that the three of them watch something together, but there are instances where there is complete silence between them as they are drawn into a story line of a show.
When our family screened the new Amazon series, Bookaboo, during one of their playdates with friends, the initial reaction made me think they weren’t interested. Within a few minutes the room became silent as all you heard was Bookaboo and his intriguing accent. We came to discover that Bookaboo was a rockstar puppet in a variety show. Each episode featured a new guest star who read a story while it was animated. The story is instantly brought to life and children learn how their imaginations can be used while reading a story. This was especially important for my oldest daughter, who is an advanced reader but has a strong dislike for reading. Bookaboo shows her that there is so much to be learned from a book and will hopefully change her mind about reading. There is something for everyone in this new series, but what impressed me the most is that all the kids in various age groups actually sat and enjoyed a show together!
The new series debuts on Amazon on October 28. I personally love the Amazon Video platform that is included with our Prime membership because we can stream so many shows. For our viewing party we were able to seamlessly stream Bookaboo and show the kids a few of the episodes without having to worry about scratched DVDs or changing a disc.
