Between work, childcare, and running a home, sometimes it can feel like there’s not enough time to do anything else. And that includes Christmas. If you’ve left Christmas preparations a bit late, fear not! You can still have a fun-filled, stress-free day with delicious food and happy children. And this checklist of Christmas prep essential will help you do it.
Try and allocate one task per day starting as soon as possible. Work your way from point 1 to 10 to keep organized.
Day 1 – Order The Presents
Christmas isn’t far away! This means we need to order the Christmas presents fast, as delivery times over the festive holidays are temperamental.
Write a list of names, and check it twice! Plan your budget and research online what to get, then order it the same day. Finding presents online is sometimes easier than going into each shop one by one. Especially when the shops are packed with other hopeful shoppers searching for gifts.
Just be mindful of the delivery dates. Sometimes collecting an item in-store is quicker, so use this option if it’s on offer.
When presents are delivered, wrap them as soon as you get them. Otherwise, you’ll be spending the entirety of Christmas Eve trying to get everything wrapped.
Day 2 – Make A Christmas Menu
Unless you’re making Christmas dinners and appetizers every weekend. It’s easy for your Christmas cooking skills to get a little rusty and to forget what and how you made specific recipes.
To dust off your skills, spend some time sourcing recipes for the day. Then write down the ingredients, collect them, and whipping up samples to try them out.
For instance, this delicious cranberry jalapeno dip is sure to be a hit as an appetizer. But practice making it first to see if you need to make any tweaks for Christmas day.
When your Christmas menu is ready, order online, or take to the shops to collect your ingredients for the big day.
Day 3 – Christmas Tree and Decor
Now it’s time to work your magic on the decor and make your home into a cozy Christmas haven.
From picking up a tree to a few additional pieces to add to the garland, and perhaps some extra lights for outdoors. Once you return home, work your way through putting up the Christmas delights. Try not to rush this part; otherwise, you might end up knotting fairy lights together.
Take lots of breaks and ask a member of your family to help. Hanging decor outdoors, for instance, can be quite tiring and sometimes dangerous.
And there you have it! In three days, it’s entirely possible to get the Christmas day show planned and prepared in advance. Meaning your festive day will be fantastic and stress-free.
