I never thought I would have a picky eater, but as Karma rules, I guess this is what I get for the years of torment I put my own mom through. To this day, I am still a picky eater, but I am more apt to try new things. My toddler, on the other hand, doesn’t want to know about new foods, colorful foods, or anything that just doesn’t look right in her eyes.
She wasn’t always picky. She was a great eater and would try everything. There wasn’t really too much she wouldn’t eat. Everyone warned me that it would change but I didn’t care to listen. As far as I knew she was eating and I didn’t foresee any food aversions at the time. Soon after she turned 2, she started getting choosy about what she ate. There couldn’t be too much going on in her plate – a simple veggie with pasta, a slice of pizza, and maybe some spinach ravioli was the best I could do. Although she may eat the same foods all the time without having too much variety, I feel that she does eat healthy because she eats all her veggies and most of her food is organic and not overly processed.
Earth’s Best has some tips for Feeding Picky Toddlers. Once I had a picky toddler on my hand, I started searching for ways to get her to at least try new things. Meal time is always a challenge, but with the proper knowledge you can still attempt to get your toddler to eat healthy.
