There’s something nostalgic about the Mini Cooper car when you first look at it. Maybe it’s the “it” car of the 70s, the fact that The Beatles and Mr. Bean both drove it, or maybe it’s just got that super cool vibe. Playmobil has captured a piece of that nostalgia with their latest set, the Mini Cooper, 70921.

Did you know that the Mini Cooper was designed to focus only on the essentials for a vehicle, which apparently didn’t include heating, radio, or power windows. Playmobil’s interpretation of the Mini Cooper preserves a lot of the traditional aspects of the vehicle and includes a working tailgate, chrome accents, and a right-hand steering wheel. The removable roof allows for four passengers within the vehicle. The Playmobil Mini Cooper measures about 7 x 5 inches and includes two figures in colorful 70s outfits, a Dalmatian, and a policeman in a classic English uniform.

During our trip to Europe, my kids have seen the more modern version of the Mini Cooper and always seem so fascinated by the design of the car. While it operates as a typical car, it definitely has a distinct look and features that set it apart and turns heads. When they received the Playmobil Mini Cooper to check out, they commented how that was the “cute little car we would see in the summer!” Even though they weren’t around in the ’70s for this vehicle to be nostalgic to them, they can appreciate the Mini Cooper nostalgia in a more recent time frame.

When the car isn’t being used as a play vehicle during imaginative play, it can be seen adorning the shelf in the playroom as the perfect conversation piece. Retailing at $79.99, you can purchase the Playmobil Mini Cooper directly from Playmobil and Amazon.
