I would be lying to you if I told you I don’t let my kids watch tv. When I had my first daughter I limited tv time to about a half hour per day after she was a year old. The colder the weather got, the harder it was to get her out to the park or to mommy and me classes. We became members at a children’s museum near by, but watching children’s programming on tv was still prominent during times we were home. I started to notice her speech rapidly improving, and by two years old she could recite the entire alphabet. At 2 1/2 she could identify all her letters. Guess where she got her head start from? You betcha, TV! At four years old I still limit her tv time and the shows she watches, but I fully believe tv is a way of learning. This is why we have to protect our kids and keep track of what programs they are watching, because just as they learn great things they can also learn about things they aren’t mature enough to understand yet.
