Does it really matter what types of garbage bags you use? Is this something you even think about? Unfortunately in my home, the types of garbage bags we use ARE important, let me tell you why. A few years ago my hubby and I hosted a party in our home. We had regular generic garbage bags which worked great for us, and we never put much thought into which garbage bags to use. If they were on sale, then they were good enough for us. So, at this party we decided instead of using the garbage bin which is tucked under the sink, we would put a garbage bag on the kitchen floor and let it pile up. It was easier for our guests and minimized the risk of the under-sink garbage overflowing and causing a mess. At the end of the party, my hubby took the bag outside while I stayed in the kitchen to clean. I noticed a huge dark spot on our granite floors where the garbage bag had been sitting all that time. I ran my fingers on the dark spot and sure enough it was oil. The garbage bag leaked, and if you know anything about granite, then you know it is porous and absorbs EVERYTHING. My floor was ruined and it was all because the generic garbage bag leaked. After this incident we switched to Glad garbage bags because of their claims to be durable on their commercials. Four years later and we are still Glad users!
You never know when life can get messy, and you don’t want to ruin a great party by finding out your floors are destroyed by a leak in your garbage bag. We use Glad Bags for everything and they are great because of the various sizes they come in. For the bigger jobs, such as our Spring Cleaning we just finished, we reach for the Glad Black Bag because they are very strong and durable. They have ForceFlex technology which prevents the bag from ripping by stretching out and accommodating pointy objects. This is my favorite feature because all it takes is a little tear to make a big mess! The drawsting closure makes for an easy closure. The next best feature is the Glad OdorShield. This is great for those parties where you have people throwing out their leftover food in the trash, along with cups that may still be full of liquids. The OdorShield neutralizes the smell that may linger into the next day.

This is my personal favorite piece from all the works of art being auctioned off! I love the bright colors and the way the duck stands out - you would never know that this was made from all recycled materials!
While Glad helps make household messes easier to clean up, the people over at Glad are always looking for ways to help keep communities clean by turning trash into treasure. I’m sure you’ve heard that expression, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Glad has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful and they have taken this quote one step further and found ways to re-use trash from the Great American Clean Ups across the country. From old milk cartons and glass bottles to bottle caps and toys, just about anything can be recycled and reused!
To help get this campaign started, Glad Black Bag has partnered with interior designers Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen, aka the Picker Sisters by using “trash” and creating art. Along with Glad and The Picker Sisters, mosaic artist Jason Mecier will be creating works of art with the recycled goods. The works of art will be auctioned off during the Glad Black Bag art auction on eBay to benefit the Great American Cleanup. Check out eBay between now and April 26th to bid on your favorite work of art!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Glad Black Bag and received a Glad Black Bag product and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate. I was also asked to “pin” one (1) Glad Black Bag Art Auction photo on Pinterest
