My nephew is almost 8 years old and is getting into short stories. He’s a good kid, but can have mischievous moments, so when I heard about Horrid Henry, I felt it was a character he could relate to. In the movie Horrid Henry, Henry;s actions start off a chain of events which leads to an interesting cooperation with his archenemies, Moody Margaret. It’s hard to come by DVDs with appropriate story lines for younger children (which aren’t cartoons.) My nephew told me he enjoyed the movie so much, he’s watched it repeatedly with his 4 year old brother! The movie is filled with child-friendly humor that even adults can appreciate!
Along with the movie, Horrid Henry is also available in short story format. My nephew read it to my 3 1/2 year old daughter and they both seemed to enjoy the story line! It’s great that there are great movies and books out there for that “in between” age – where children are not into cartoons anymore but not really ready for PG13 shows.
Since my girls are still a little too young to enjoy these types of movies, my nephew was the perfect age to review Horrid Henry. He’s still asking for a Horrid Henry video game, but right now he can enjoy the entire collection of books in the Horrid Henry line!
You can find Horrid Henry books on Amazon, which also includes a box set, perfect for a gift!
