While summer time is all about being outdoors and enjoying the sunshine, there will be, no doubt, a few days where we will be laying low and enjoying some family movie time. Summer in NYC can be pleasant, or it can be way too hot to get out, or thunderstorms that last for hours. I welcome these days as much as I welcome the sunshine, because we get to hang out at home, truly relax, and spend time as a family. I take these rare moments to introduce my girls to some of the older movies I enjoyed as a kid. Movies like Pinocchio and the little mermaid are just two of the titles I remember watching when I was younger. Aladdin was my all time favorite and Lilo and Stitch was our family favorite. My little girls can’t wait to visit Hawaii and learn more about the culture after Moana showed them more about where Lilo came from.
The first Disney movie I remember seeing was Bambi. I’ll be completely honest here- I don’t think I’m ready for my girls to see Bambi. I love the overall message of the movie and perhaps I will start at the scene past the beginning where we lose Bambi’s mother. My girls are very aware of mortality and it’s a constant conversation and fear around here. So, while I try not to shelter them I also don’t want to feed their fears either. Bambi is now available on Disney Movies anywhere and the BluRay combo pack can be purchased from out affiliates on amazon.
I know my girls have been impatiently waiting for Beauty and the Beast to be released for home viewing. Ever since seeing the movie in the theater they have been asking nearly everyday if we can watch it at home during our weekly movie nights. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast can be purchased and viewed on the Disney Movies Anywhere app or you can purchase the combo BluRay/DVD/digital copy from amazon. I personally love this option because we have the CD to watch in the car or at grandmas house and we have the digital copy automatically loaded in our Disney Movies Anywhere app to watch at home or on the go on all our devices.
