Preserving a lovely home can be really satisfying, but it is not without its difficulties especially when it comes to cleaning.Maintaining a home needs a lot of cleaning as it can feel like forever! A lot of people may think that they must clean their household regularly in order to keep the place spick and span. However, it does not mean you would have to scrub your tub or dust your TV every single day.
Here’s a guide on how often you should clean your house and get those nasty bacteria in check.
But before we proceed with the steps, you need to prepare your cleaning tools first. A broom and old rags are not enough. For thorough cleaning, you will also need a vacuum cleaner, scrub brush, sponge mop, rubber gloves, dust masks, microfiber cloth, mop bucket, or a pressure washer. Chemicals are also necessary to deal with bacteria and dirt, such as a multi-purpose cleaner, washing soda, liquid detergent, bleach, and most importantly, a protective face mask should be worn for the whole duration.
Clean Them Everyday
1. Kitchen. Sinks and countertops may get pretty disgusting, even if they appear clean. If you tend to prepare food in the kitchen, all sorts of bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella that comes from raw meat may contaminate the area. Hence, if you are done with cooking for the day, make sure to wash the used dishes, wipe down your sinks and countertop, and clean any spills.
2. Surface areas. If you love to indulge your meals on coffee tables while enjoying your favourite shows, keep in mind to always wipe any remnants that may have fallen onto the ground. This is to ensure that any bacteria growth and vermin could be prevented. Pay attention around the area and get rid of clutters as these little gestures can make a house feel more orderly.
Clean These Every Few Days
1. Bath towels. Towels are the best way for germs and bacteria like staph to penetrate the skin. The bacteria can proliferateif the towels are not completely dry, so they should be washed frequently to avoid infection.
2. Bathroom sink. The bathroom sink is one of the areas in the house that is most frequented. From cleansing your face, washing your hands to wearing your makeup and getting your hair done. It just makes sense that it should be cleaned and wiped every few days. A pack of disinfecting wipes should be kept in your bathroom for a quick sink cleansing to eradicate all the germs and bacteria.
Weekly Cleaning Activities
1. Vacuum and mop. The carpets and floors are subjected to a lot of foot traffic on a daily basis. In order to keep allergies, dust, and grime at bay, it is best to give your carpets a good cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and your floors a super mopping once a week.
2. Change Sheets. A third of your life is spent in bed, so making sure your bed linens are clean should be one of your top priorities. Consider all the drool, sweat, dandruff, and other dirt that accumulate between the sheets. As bed sheets can get dirty quickly, it is a good idea to replace them at least every week. Try doing this task on Sunday nights so you can start the new week off right.
Monthly Cleaning Routines
1. Windows and ceiling fans. The ceiling fan and windows in your home are some components in your household that should be paid attention to every few times a year. A regular cleaning every month will keep any build-up at bay, whether it is dust, pollen or just grime building on these areas. An alternative that could be done to preserve the area from any unwanted dust or pollen is to get an air purifier and place it near a window.
2. Mattress. Changing your sheets does not mean you are done with that area. Most of us find this unnecessary, but your mattress requires cleaning once a month as well. Simply clean it with your vacuum’s upholstery attachment, then continue with a gentle detail work for any discolouration or filthy areas.
