When I read the story about Wendy Barry I felt instantly connected to her. Just like me, she was a teacher who was looking for a way to juggle her growing family with her career. Knowing she didn’t want to leave the education field, she began looking into child care franchises after her daughter, Taylor, was born. At the time Wendy was looking into franchises, The Millers placed an ad in their local paper looking for people to help them expand their child care business. Wendy and the Millers met up and discussed working together after realizing they had the same goals.
Wendy is constantly focused on achieving the highest educational standards. She is currently working on building the enrollment in her franchise within her community. She was faced with the challenge of being a franchisee for a company that, at the time, had no brand recognition. She was able to work closely with the corporate staff, since she was the only franchise, and she was able to overcome all challenges.
Wendy has successfully grown her franchise over the last 17 years. She has provided a safe environment for children to learn and flourish. Parents rely on her skilled staff to care for their children.
Wendy and her academy have won numerous awards, including: Brand Champion Award, #1 Child Care in Cecil County for 2009 and 2010, and the 2010 Director of the Year Award. She also takes pride in knowing she has offered her employees a work place that has helped achieve their career goals.
