My kids have all had their bouts of eczema since birth. My oldest, having it the worst, would have severe eczema that flared in the winter months. It wasn’t until I did some research and made lifestyle changes, which included eliminating some things from our diets, that my kids found relief. While my other two kids responded to dietary changes, my oldest still has eczema that flares sporadically which we can’t link to anything specific. I believe there is an element of genetics behind eczema because my husband has been a long time eczema sufferer. His scalp is affected the most and the patches on his head are so uncomfortable at times, he doesn’t like anyone touching his head.
I always have a variety of products on hand to ease her skin when this happens. Now that she is in the preteen stages, she tells me whether or not a cream is helping her and whether or not she will use it when she’s at school. For example, she will not wear anything that makes her face shiny or has a scent (which we avoid anyway). The formula has to absorb quickly because she doesn’t like the feeling of her clothes sticking to an ointment or cream. We were introduced to Gladskin products through MomsMeet and had not heard of this eczema treatment beforehand. As I read through the details of how Gladskin works, I was intrigued that the company was diligent to preserve the good bacteria on the skin while targeting bad bacteria that may cause discomfort. As it balances the good with bad bacteria, it also moisturizes the skin to promote a healthier look.
Gladskin is so gentle, I can use it on all my kids of various ages. It is meant to work with all skin types, and can be used on babies as young as 3 months. The formula is non-toxic and can be used as needed, which differs from some of the harsher prescription creams our dermatologist had prescribed that only allowed for use 2-3 times a day despite discomfort in between uses.
So far, we are all happy with the Gladskin product line. My oldest uses the face wash to keep her skin balanced and free of eczema patches, while following up with eczema cream. My husband uses the shampoo bar and we’ve noticed smoother skin and smaller patches of eczema as opposed to the larger patches he had. At first, he noticed that his skin slightly flared up when first using the shampoo bar, but we read that this is a normal reaction that would subside as the skin rebalanced. By the third week he noticed significant improvement of his symptoms. We will continue to use Gladskin products for our family, especially as the winter months creep in and affect their skin.
