I find my preschooler often rummaging through my kitchen items to find something to play with in her play kitchen. I’ve found “real” forks and spoons in her kitchen, along with some pantry items, so it was only a matter of time before I looked into her own “fake” pantry items to add to her kitchen.
She also loves to pretend her kitchen is a shop, and will scan grocery items through her invisible scanner and bag them. I love her imagination and her drive for creativity. When I found the Melissa & Doug Let’s Play House! Grocery Basket with Play Food, I knew it was perfect for her. With real size boxes and cans of pantry foods, I knew my toddler would have a great time with this set.
The only thing I didn’t like about this set was the plastic over the basket – it was near impossible to open without a sharp pair of scissors – but that really is no reflection of the quality of the contents inside the basket. My preschooler’s favorite part was the play basket which resembled a mini version of what we would normally find in the super market. Now, when my daughter plays pretend grocery store, she has a basket and items to play with as well!
The Pretend Grocery Basket with Play Food retails for $19.99 but is available at GummyLump for only $15.99, which makes it an affordable pretend-play option for your child!
