When giving baby must haves advice to my friends and family (and unsuspecting pregnant strangers) one item I’m always sure to mention is a Boppy pillow. The Boppy was my #1 used baby item for both of my girls, and whether you are planning on breastfeeding or formula feeding, the Boppy is a big help. After my c-sections, the Boppy pillow helped me hold my babies while protecting my incision site. It also helped with my posture to hold baby properly.
Since I breastfed, the Boppy pillow helped me support my baby while also offering support in my arms and back. The Boppy pillow isn’t only for moms who decide to breastfeed, it also comes in handy when you are bottle feeding to help take the strain off your back and prop baby up. When it was time for tummy time and learning to sit unassisted, Boppy was there to support baby along the way.
There are so many nursing pillows out there but I always go back to the Boppy. It is the original, and for me the most comfortable. Others I have tried were too stiff, too soft, or too short and didn’t quite make the cut for comfort. Since I first started using a Boppy pillow almost 6 years ago, a lot has changed. There are so many styles to choose from as well as various types of pillows for different needs. The original Boppy is still my favorite as a tried and true nursing pillow, tummy time prop, and a place for baby to sit with some support and padding behind them.
Aside from having and using a Boppy pillow at home, it is also my top recommended item when you pack your hospital bag. The earliest days of motherhood, whether it is your first baby or third, are very strenuous on the body. Since I have c-sections, the Boppy pillow protects my incision site from baby sitting on it and provides support when I need it.
