Have a Daily Connect
A daily connect, is where you have one on one time with each of your children and check that they are ok. It is where you let them know that they are loved and that you are there to help them no matter what. The best time of day for this may be in the evening as they are tucked in bed. This is an essential thing to do, so they know you are there and care. If this is something that you do every day, you will be able to see a difference in them if something is wrong. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you have something set in stone that cannot be disrupted for any other responsibility, like work, etc. During this time, you will bond, and the children will bond together too.
A great way to spend time together is to have a day where you all make something. You could see what the children would like to make, or you could come up with recipes like [this recipe] for bacon wrapped scallops. Having some fun in the kitchen and teaching them healthy eating habits at the same time is like a double whammy. Cooking can be something where they can show a little bit of innovation and flair.
