My toddler is really bad at playing by the rules when it comes to board games. She’s still a little young to really understand the concept of board games, and we have tried with age-appropriate games such as Candy Land. We’ve tried playing this game with her many times and just gave up- she’s a little too young. I wasn’t sure how she would react to Elefun Snackin Safari, but it seems more like an age-appropriate game for her.
There is one simple rule: get the most snacks with your elephants trunk! That is easy enough for a tot who is very competitive. The harder part is that the player also have to match colors and create pairs of matching snacks. I love that although this game is great for new board gamers, it also teaches them about colors and matching. There isn’t a traditional “board” to this board game, so it makes it a lot easier for children with lower attention spans to stay engaged and play the game. Setting up the game is super easy! Just drop the “snack” cards face down on the ground. The players will use the elephant’s trunk to suck up the cards. Game includes 2 Snackin’ Safari elephant heads, 2 handles, 2 elephant trunks, 13 Snack Cards and 2 Home Base Cards.
My toddler and her cousin had a great time competing, but ended up helping each other out to create matches for their snacks. It was nice to see them turn it into a teamwork effort! The recommended age for Elefun Snackin’ Safari is 3 and up.
