This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
You may have recently read my post regarding Duane Reade and why I love it. It is my neighborhood pharmacy and I have 3 within a 5 block radius of my house. If you didn’t know, Duane Reade is owned by Walgreens, which is also a huge name in drugstores.
Just recently, my husband changed jobs and we now have Express Scripts. Duane Reade and Walgreens can no longer fill our prescriptions because the new year negotiations between Walgreens and Express Scripts did not go well. As a result, effective Jan. 1, 2012, Walgreens is no longer part of the Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network.
What does this mean for me? I have to leave the pharmacy I trust and have been using for years. I live in a big city where I can walk down the block and walk in to a pharmacy, but it isn’t the same. All my records are at Duane Reade.
To ease the burden, Walgreens is offering a special discount on their Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. For $10 a year, the family membership will cover everyone in your immediate family, including your spouse, children 22 years and younger, and your pets. If you don’t have a family, individual membership is only $5. Benefits include savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications, discounted flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers, and diabetic supplies. They even offer incentives when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photo-finishing services.
