All of a sudden my little guy is obsessed with all things outer space. I can’t remember how this obsession started, but we are now swimming in all things outer space. He can even tell us all the planets based on what they look like, and I think that’s pretty impressive because even after a year of astronomy classes I can’t do that!
It was only fitting that when Playmobil came out with their Mars Space Station Playset, we would have to check it out. Two little astronauts and a friendly martian were the first things he noticed from the box, but once him and his dad started putting the whole set together, his excitement grew. Not only was it fun to watch them bonding over the set, but hearing my husband teach our son about the planets, the satellites, the space stations, and real-life astronauts was a reminder of why playtime is also learning time for little ones.
The Playmobil Mars Space Station is an interactive set with lights and sounds. Tools are included that are a perfect size for the astronaut figurines to “fix” various issues throughout the space station. On the space station, there’s a lab, sleeping compartments, and the main cabin area where all the controls are. I have to admit, I don’t know much about the mechanics of space stations, but this Playmobil set is so detailed, it makes me wonder if it was modeled after the real thing!
