When I was a teen, I remember many of my friends getting braces. I didn’t need braces, although a dentist did suggest it at some point, but eventually, my teeth adjusted and I only have one tooth that is misplaced. It bothers me ALL the time. Because of it’s location, it is very uncomfortable, but at this stage in my life, there is no way you will see me with a train track in my mouth. I have considered alternatives to braces, such as Invisalign, but I never took the time to actually go to a doctor to see if I would be a good candidate. Two of my friends have Invisalign, and within a year or so, they had a perfect smile. The typical treatment time for Invisalign is between 9-15 months.
I’ve actually been fitted for a night guard when I was younger, and my dentist told me it was a very similar process to getting fitted for Invisalign. A dental impression is taken and aligners are custom made for your teeth. About 18-30 aligners are made, and they are changed approximately every 2 weeks. Each aligner is slightly different, which will gradually move your teeth to where they should be in order to achieve your best smile.
I don’t think braces are only for kids, and I don’t think there should be a stigma associated with braces. I do know that as a teen, kids are already self conscious of their ever changing bodies, and a discreet system like Invisalign clear braces might help minimize self-consciousness associated with attaining that perfect smile. As an adult who still wants to achieve that perfection, I think Invisalign is a treatment I would highly consider. You can join Invisalign on Facebook and Twitter to join their online community.
Do you have any experience with Invisalign or braces? I would love to hear your thoughts on Invisalign!

My kids still have all of their baby teeth but I am glad that there is an option like invisalign if they ever need braces.

I’ve always thought about Invisalign but my teeth aren’t really all that bad and I just can’t seem to justify the cost.

I didn’t have braces at all as a kid because my parents couldn’t afford them, but I desperately needed {and need} them. My teeth aren’t THAT bad but the very front two on the bottom are super crooked and it drives me crazy. I already have plans to get Invisalign, but I have to wait until I can get my wisdom teeth out first since they’re moving all of my other teeth.

I had a friend who used them and I couldn’t ever tell. Invisible!
