Cleaning your home is important for obvious reasons, but there are a couple of places in the home that we often forget about. Sadly, because we forget about these places, they can build up a serious amount of grime and bacteria. So much so that we might even be scared of cleaning those areas of the home!
But it’s important not to neglect these underlooked areas of your home. If left untouched for a long time, it could lead to structural damage or even start to affect other parts of your property. So here is a bit of advice on areas of the home that you really shouldn’t ignore.

Air vents
Air vents tend to gather a lot of dust and grime because they’re made to exhaust air from your home. While they’re not the worst thing to clean, they can get extremely dirty at times and you’ll need to wear some kind of mask while cleaning it to ensure you don’t inhale a lot of nasty bacteria. However, once these vents are cleaned properly, you’ll notice a significant improvement in the air quality around your home.
Your attic
The attic is an area of the home that is prone to pest and rodent infestations because it’s nice and warm and easy to access. If you have roof-related problems then it can exacerbate any attic problems you might have. It’s worth cleaning up the attic every now and then to ensure that it doesn’t turn into a hangout spot for pests.
Your crawlspace
Your crawlspace is an area underneath your home that is too small to be called a basement but is just enough to crawl around in and perform maintenance. Companies like Crawlspace Depot offer a wide variety of different products and machines that will help you take better care of your crawlspace. This can help you avoid any debris or moisture build-up, and it’ll also help you clear out any rodent infestations. This is a rather scary area to clean if you’ve never been down in your crawlspace, but it’s important to maintain it because it’s a common place for pests to get in and out of your home.
Around kitchen appliances
Kitchen appliances can get surprisingly grimy, especially if you don’t clean them on a regular basis or if your extractor fan isn’t working correctly. As such, it’s important to clean around your stovetop, underneath your fridge, and even on top of shelves and cupboards. Regularly cleaning around kitchen appliances will make your kitchen look a lot nicer and also helps it become more hygienic.
A great way to start cleaning these areas of the home is to try and make cleaning more fun. You can get your kids involved, you could try and time yourself to see how quickly you can do it, or you could even consider decorating these parts of the home to make it look more appealing and encourage you to clean it regularly. If you’re not motivated to clean, then it’s going to be hard to try and freshen up these parts of your home.
