Although bouncers have been around for a while, I never thought of registering for one or even purchasing one when I was pregnant with my daughter. Everyone around me swore by them, but I thought that their use was too limited to justify actually buying one. My sister in law had registered for a Bright Starts bouncer a year before, and ended up getting 4 of them, so when she was over one day, she brought her extra bouncer so my niece would have somewhere comfy to sit. She kept it here knowing they would visit frequently and inevitably it got handed down to my daughter. By the time my little girl was using it, months passed and it collected dust. I quickly learned that the seat cover came off easily to be washed, and started using it.
I was surprised at how much use I got out of the bouncer. Not only did I use it at home, but it was portable and I was able to use it when we went to other people’s houses. I was able to hop in the shower and keep my little girl close to me while she happily bounced in her bouncer. We even gave her most of her first meals in her bouncer, which seemed way more comfortable for her size than her high chair. Even though I had no urge to purchase a bouncer before I used it myself, I was very happy I had one and would recommend a bouncer to all my mommy friends!
Not all baby bouncers are made the same. I have seen other bouncers in the baby store and at friends’ houses that are narrow and don’t cradle the baby as well as the Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Bouncer. The seat is rounded as opposed to the oval shaped competitors, and has a lot more padding and support. The newer version of the Bright Starts bouncer and the one my sister in law handed down to me two years ago are very similar – why change something that works so well?!? The Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Bouncer has two reclining positions depending on what stage your baby is at. With 7 melodies and a vibrating option, this bouncer came in handy during many colicky outbursts. Other features of the Comfort & Harmony Bouncer include a newborn insert, 2 soft toys, a 3 point harness and non-slip feet. The bouncer is suitable for infants up to 25 lbs, but I stopped using it when my little girl started to pull herself up, since she could have potentially tipped the bouncer.
There different options in fabric to choose from, you can check out Bright Starts to see what they have available. At about $49.99, a bouncer is a MUST HAVE when you bring your newborn home! You can connect with Bright Starts on Facebook to stay up to date on their latest news and promotions!
