Baby wearing is a must when you have more than one child! I have a few baby carriers that I wear depending on what I am doing. When my infant doesn’t feel well, I wear a soft baby carrier to keep her close and snuggled on me. When we are shopping or walking around the city, I wear a bigger carrier that provides comfortable shoulder straps.
Recently, I saw a mother sporting a sling that only went across half her body as her baby lounged on her hip. I was impressed, but a little skeptical about comfort, support, and safety. I guess it was one of those things I had to try out myself before I decided it wouldn’t be for me. Hotslings seemed to be the most versatile – stating it worked for babies from 8-35 pounds, and could be worn in various positions to accomodate the age of the baby and comfort for mama.
I tried out the Hotsling with my 17 pound baby who has full neck control, and stands and sits on her own. She is very independent and doesn’t always like to be carried or snuggled to tight in a full carrier, so I thought a sling would be appealing to her. Now, I have to admit, those pictures on Hotslings make it look easy to support your baby on your hip with the sling, but I found that there was more of a learning curve for myself. Good thing they have videos available on the Hotslings website where I could see how to put the sling on and support my baby.
After getting the sling on properly, my baby seemed to really enjoy it. It was much safer than I thought, and provided a padded “seat” for my baby to sit in while I held her. I love that it folds compactly in the diaper bag and even includes a storage sack to keep it clean. Best of all, it is easy to clean and can be tossed in the wash with the rest of the baby clothes. You can find out more by visiting Hotslings and by connecting with them on Facebook!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
