Our favorite Friday night activity is movie night. My girls get their favorite blankets, some snacks, and I choose a movie based on their interests. I no longer allow them to choose a movie because they have ruined movie nights by simply arguing the entire time that they didn’t want to watch what the other chose. That’s girls for you! Now that the weather is getting cooler, I needed to find ways to keep everyone warm in the living room during movie night and even just for lounging. My living room is surrounded by very large windows, so it gets cold very quick in the winter. I finally found an area rug I love and put that down for extra warmth on the floor, and the kids are much more comfortable in the changing temperatures.
Our latest novelty for movie nights are Blankie Tails. My girls saw them on TV a few months ago (when it was still summer) and they knew they HAD to have them. They were always intrigued by mermaids (who isn’t!?) and loved the idea that they can wrap themselves in a fancy blanket that resembled a mermaid. Blankie Tails sent each of my kids a blanket to try out for themselves. We’ve had them since the weather started turning cooler, and it gave me a good idea of whether or not it was something they would use once and forget about or something they would use.
Our Blankie Tails live in the living room, folded in a corner ready to comfort my children when they are cold or want to relax after school. During movie nights they each get their tails, slide their legs in, and snuggle up on the rug waiting for the movie to come on. They truly enjoy being completely wrapped and warm with their Blankie Tails, and even pretend they are mermaids. My little guy has the shark tail, so they pretend they are all in the ocean together. It’s quite cute to watch them all getting along in their world of pretend, even if it’s fleeting. Just recently my oldest had surgery and used her Blankie Tail for comfort while she recovered. She was able to get just the right amount of warmth and her feet stayed covered as she rested.
So, our verdict is in: Blankie Tails have not been tossed to the side and forgotten about, like most of their toys. It is something that is useful and an item I would recommend for our holiday gift guide this season.
