Bathing a newborn is one of the scariest things about bringing baby home from the hospital. This fragile baby is so small and might as well have a sign that says “slippery when wet!” When I brought my first baby home from the hospital, I had to have my mom come and bathe her the first time. I wasn’t sure what to do or how to hold her. I was afraid of her being cold, or worse, slipping out of my hands.
As soon as my newborn’s cord fell off, I felt a little more comfortable bathing her in a tub. This worked well for a few months, but the tub always seemed to be in the way- it was constantly being shuffled from one room to another, and once we got rid of it we were happy it was no longer in the way. Now with my second baby, every piece of baby gear we own is about space saving and function. I know what I am looking for as far as features go, and I know which baby items we will actually use for a long time as opposed to baby gear that will have a limited usage.
From the first time I heard about the Blooming Bath, I knew it was a “must have” item for us. Sure, it’s pretty to look at and makes for amazing newborn photos, but most importantly it is a great bathtub that is packed with features considering it doesn’t have any bells and whistles. You can use this bathtub as soon as your little one is ready to be submerged in water, although we used it for her sponge baths by using it as a barrier between her and my sheets when she was bathed on my bed. Once my little one was ready for a real bath, we placed the Blooming Bath in the kitchen sink. My favorite feature is the petals, which can be easily adjusted to support tiny babies and even older children. Another great feature about the Blooming Bath is how easily it dries and stores. After each bath, I thoroughly rinse out all the soap and toss it in the dryer. Then, it folds up easily and can be placed in a closet or hanging behind a door.
After using various baby tubs, from soft foam that molds to hard plastic that is hard to store, I think it is safe to say that Blooming Bath is my favorite. It is very soft and cushioned, and although I have not sat in it myself, it does look very comfy for baby. You can win your own Blooming Bath!
