I feel like I’ve been making candyless Easter Baskets from before they were even trendy. Yes, I’m THAT mom- the one who doesn’t want her kids to devour 5 pounds of Easter Candy within 5 minutes- because that’s exactly what’s going to happen if I fill up our kids Easter Baskets with candy. When my girls were still babies, I would fill their Easter Baskets with all their summer needs- like swim suits, cover up, sandals, and new summer shoes. I’d throw in bubbles and sidewalk chalk, maybe even a toy or a game. If I’m feeling generous I might toss in a small chocolate bunny for their enjoyment, but knowing they have aunts and uncles who will spoil them rotten with candy, I keep our candy involvement to a minimum.
Not much has changed over the years. My kids still get all their summer clothing in their Easter baskets. My girls will also be receiving a Nintendo 3DS game each, and my little guy will have a bubble machine waiting for him in his Easter Basket. Being that my oldest is a huge Nintendo gamer and my middle daughter is following suit, I know they will LOVE their new games. Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team are the latest titles to hit shelves. I was a HUGE Kirby fan growing up, although no one can really take the place of Mario and Luigi in my heart. Pink, Puffy, and Powerful,Kirby: Triple Deluxe packs a punch in this game. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team features RPG style gaming in this fun adventure. Both games retail at just $19.99 and can be purchased through our Amazon affiliate.
While I know the kids love to receive fresh games in their Easter Baskets, I love to include the essentials. I think our Easter Baskets without candy are a happy medium. Other items featured in our Candyless Easter Baskets can be found here:
