When you think of bulldozer toys you always think of a little boy piling dirt on the back and running over Barbies. Not in my home. I remember (when I was a little girl) tying my dolls by their hair to the back of my brother’s bulldozing toys – I told you that my little girl didn’t get the “girlie girl” thing from me. Now, while my little girl loves to dress up and play with dollhouses, I can’t say that she doesn’t enjoy playing with the “big boy” toys either. As soon as I opened the box containing the CAT take apart machine, she told me it was hers and asked me to open the packaging. The photo you see is before I took it out – and I haven’t been able to pry it away from her to take another picture.
Here is what I think about the CAT take apart machine:
I think it is a great gift for boy OR girl. Fine, I wouldn’t purchase this for my 3 year old niece, but I would definitely buy it for my nephew. Although my daughter DOES love it! A cute little power drill is included that even my hubby can use. This is a great toy for the child that loves to take things apart to see how they work, and then they can put it together again. In the meantime, while it is intact, they can bulldoze around the living room or beach and load it up with toys or rocks.
I know it is barely August, but I love to get my holiday and birthday shopping out of the way. I would definitely (and just might) buy this for my 4 nephews this holiday season. I think they would all love to play with a power tool like their daddies and take the CAT machine apart and put it back together. The teacher in me also thinks that this type of toy would build problem solving skills in children!
CAT preschool toys are available at Toys R Us, Walmart, Kmart and Target

I’m curious- how’s it holding up? My son just got one for his birthday on Saturday and it broke this morning (Wednesday). One of the screws just snapped in half. He cried and cried because it was his favorite gift this year. I can’t find anywhere online that has replacement screws and I’m afraid I might have a hard time exchanging it because as with many toys now, the packaging had to be pretty much destroyed to get the thing out of the box. It gets high marks for fun factor, but seriously sub-par marks for durability.

I haven’t had any problems with it yet* Can you take it back to the toy store you got it from and see if they will exchange it??
