I’m pretty excited each year that National Superhero day rolls around. It’s a reminder to my kids to not only celebrate the superheroes they’ve learned from on tv, but to celebrate real-life heroes we know in our community. Since day to day heroes aren’t apparent in everyday life to younger children, they learn about heroic acts from their favorite characters on TV, like PJ masks, who are tv heroes that kids can relate to. PJ Masks fight bullies in their school, which I think is a great place to start when teaching kids about heroism.
Since two of my kids are born right after national superhero day, it’s only appropriate that we somehow incorporate super hero’s in their birthday party themes. Since my son was born 3 years ago, we have had some form of joint superhero party every year. This year they both agreed on a PJ Masks party because they are both huge fans of the trio they see on tv, and in some ways, each of my 3 kids can relate to a character. My oldest daughter feels a connection to Cat Boy, while my middle daughter is a classic Owlet. My little guy loves Gekko, and when they each have a favorite character from the show it makes my life so much easier when they aren’t fighting!
If your little ones are super fans of this superhero trio, you can get your hands on just about everything you need to host a big PJ Masks birthday party! The PJ Masks books make a great party favor too! We received two copies and will be donating one to our school’s library.
There are a ton of downloadables for PJ Masks online as well, check them out here!
