As a full-time Mom, it is difficult to make time to get those gifts for all the family, let alone arrange an entire party. Perhaps, it is up to you to host one of the main party events this year, and you are finding it difficult to make all the arrangements. There is so much to think about in order to prepare for the Christmas party, from the dining table presentation, food, and drink, to seating, music, and games. No one wants their party to be seen as a flop. So, here are some ideas that won’t break the bank but will help sooth the day along and keep everyone happy, laughing, and lively.
Guess the Present
This as a really simple game to play. All you have to do is wrap something up and see if your guest can guess what it is. Choose something with a relatively unusual shape. It could be anything from a bottle of tomato sauce, to toilet roll. Everyone will get involved in trying to guess what’s under the pretty paper. You could buy some sweets or some novelty gifts as a prize to give to the winner.
Name that Christmas song
You could spend some time before the event and create a playlist of your favorite Christmas songs. Once everyone is ready, play the opening two to three seconds and see if anyone can guess the tune. Make sure you try and pick the ones with the most obscure openings to make it as hard as possible. It will be fun for you watching them wrack their brains with no idea what the song is, safe in the knowledge of knowing what it is.
Best and worst gifts ever
Give everyone five slips of paper and get them to write down their two best and two worst-ever Christmas gifts. One the fifth piece, get them to invent a made up present. Once all the paper has been filled out, fill up a hat with the slips. Stir the paper up and pick one at random. This is where the game begins. First, you have to decide if it is a worse or best present, this is always funny depending on tastes. For example, an Englebert Humperdink album has definitely got to be on the worst side of the argument for a lot of you out there, but surely he still has some fans. Once you have agreed on best or worse, then decide who received it and whether or not it was a real present at all.
Christmas funny memories
Spend some time remembering some funny Christmas memories. Then make up some false ones. See if anyone can remember the false ones, that would be funny. Laughter is a great Christmas tool, and you must be able to employ it. It is well worth your while having a think about funny family moments and sharing them. Also, have a look at some funny old man jokes and get your Dad laughing. It may be an idea to purchase a joke book or some novelty Christmas items too.
