When it comes to buying a property, there may not be any other purchase you make that is quite as expensive. Perhaps a flash sports car, but even then, with a lottery win lifestyle, you will find it hard to have a more extravagant purchase than a home. Which is why so many of us are completely house proud when it comes to the things we place in our home, how we decorate them and also how we renovate them. So how can you update your home and keep things running smoothly? Here are some of the things to think about.
The kitchen
The kitchen is a huge part of any home. It’s a place to cook, to gather and socialize but more importantly it can be known as the hub of the home. However, it can also be one of the most expensive jobs to renovate completely. A kitchen and the labor involved in putting it together can cost thousands. Of course, there are frugal ways to do it, and you can even fit a kitchen yourself if you have skills in that area. You may also want to keep current built in appliances and a simple appliance repair can get them working like new again. Painting cupboard doors or even replacing them can also be a great way to jazz things up.
The bathroom
Possibly the second biggest job in a home is the bathroom, and again this can be down to the labor and replacement costs of a complete renovation project. A bathtub, shower unit and even sink can cost, not to mention the toilet sink, the vanity and the radiator. So it is no surprise that people tend to consider a more budget friendly approach to a renovation of a bathroom, and try and improve the bathroom suite they currently have. Simple tile changes or adding new flooring can make a world of difference.
The living rooms
The living room is possibly the one room in your home that gets a lot of attention. Partly because it can be a space you spend quite a lot of time in. However, it can still work out expensive if you consider replacing flooring etc. But, again, if you make thrifty changes you can jazz up a room and bring some spark back into its life. For example, new soft furnishings can make a room look and feel totally different. The same can be said for how you style a living room. Adding different soft furnishings to the room and placing the strategically can make a huge difference.
The master bedroom
Would you believe that you own bedroom can often be the room that gets forgotten about the most. But yet this is where you will retire to bed and ultimately spend a good chunk of your time in, so wouldn’t you want to ensure that it is decorated and looking its best? As this may be a room that only you get to enjoy, I can understand why it may be low on the priority against roms like your kitchen and bathroom, but again there are some frugal ways you can make a bedroom feel more like a home, and even turn it into your very own boudoir. Start with the furniture in your room, perhaps upcycle old pieces of furniture or replace some of the theme for newer ones.
Let’s hope these tips help you when it comes to updating your home.
