Allergy season is in full swing and if you suffer from asthma as well, then you may be experiencing a very uncomfortable season. Unfortunately, I learned that keeping my windows closed during the worst of the season is my best bet to keeping my home allergy-friendly, but it totally goes against everything I’ve known about opening windows for fresh air. You can see this was conflicting for me, so I started looking into what else I can do to manage allergy season for my family while still allowing fresh air to circulate in our home.
A few years ago, a home air purifier system was suggested, and while it worked great for a small room, my bigger issue was our open concept space where the living room, playroom, dining room, and kitchen all meet. This is where we spend more of our indoor time and would need a unit to accommodate that space. When Blueair asked to team up to see if their Blueair Classic 605 Wi-Fi enabled air purifier would do the job, I initially thought the machine was more for industrial usage. As I browsed the features and ultimately tried it out for myself, I changed my mind. Yes, it’s a big machine, but that’s exactly what I needed for that communal space in my home. The Blueair Classic 605 can accommodate rooms up to 775 square feet. Despite its size, I don’t hear it at all when it’s on unless I have it on the highest setting. A big difference between this machine and other machines is the Blueair SurroundAir™ system which releases purified air through the top and sides of the machine as opposed to just a vent. This allows the flow of air to return to the room in a gentler manner and not cause drafts or wind.
As all newer technology, this is a smart product that connects to an app on your phone. The Blueair Friend App with the Blueair Aware monitor enables you to control the air purifier from anywhere and allows you to see room air quality and compare it to the outdoor air quality in real-time. This brings me to the Blueair Aware monitor which has quickly turned into one of my favorite gadgets to have in the house. While my allergies can tell me spring is in the air, the Blueair Aware monitor can tell me exactly what is polluting my room air, and then I can take measures to fix it. I noticed my air was more polluted at certain points of the day, which coincided with the time the air conditioning in the house went on. Once the flow of air is established and circulates, the Blueair Aware monitor returns back to normal.
For a sleeker look, Blue by Blueair is a more compact style of air purifiers that fits just about any space. I keep this one in the den, which is a high-traffic area and leads to a grassy yard. The Blue Pure 211+ machine covers about 540 square feet and runs silently while capturing 99% of particles. Both machines use disposable filters that can be replaced as needed, or after a specific timeframe. Find out more about Blueair Replacement Filters Here.
