If there’s one thing my family looks forward to at the end of the week, it’s Family movie nights on Friday. We go all out- everyone has dinner to unwind from the day, cleans up, and then heads to the living room with comfy pjs for a family-friendly movie. It’s a great way to start the weekend, but we aren’t always in agreement on which movie we want to watch. There are plenty of family-friendly movies from the past decade, but my kids always seem to gravitate to their favorites. This can cause some temporary drama, but this past weekend I was prepared!
With Sherlock Gnomes making its debut on BluRay/DVD/Digital, I had an advanced copy in my hands, as well as some fun crafts to get the kids excited about the movie. My nephew was over for the evening, so it turned out to be a fun night for everyone. We painted garden gnomes, spoke about what we will be planting over the weekend, and then popped the popcorn for our movie night. My girls were excited when I announced we would be watching Sherlock Gnomes because one of their favorite movies is Gnomeo and Juliet.
Sherlock Gnomes takes place after Gnomeo and Juliet, so we see a lot of the same characters. In Sherlock Gnomes, Gnomeo and Juliet ask Sherlock Gnomes to help them uncover a deep mystery: where were the rest of the garden gnomes disappearing to? There are no spoilers here! To find out what happened to the garden gnomes, you’ll have to watch the movie!
The kids liked the sequel to Gnomeo and Juliet, but they preferred the first gnome movie over Sherlock Gnomes. Their movie night with their cousin was a success, and Sherlock Gnomes will be added to our rotating library of family-friendly movies we can all watch together.
