I try to ignore my eczema. I’ve suffered from eczema since I was 8 years old. I remember my feet being so itchy I would rub them against that ugly brown carpet my mom had in my room. The friction would create a rug burn on my foot that would create a temporary relief of my symptoms. Of course, this led to an infection and my mother searching for answers and relief. She took me to a highly regarded dermatologist in the city who prescribed a myriad of treatments, some would work better than others. Then, a friend suggested GOLD BOND® powder and since then we were believers in GOLD BOND® products. because they worked! After the first application, I felt relief and my skin finally started to heal. A few years after trying the GOLD BOND® medicated powder, an easier- to-apply GOLD BOND® cream came out.
Why GOLD BOND?
It turns out, GOLD BOND® had been around for decades, since 1908 to be exact, and it was something even my grandmother had in her medicine cabinet. In 1996 Gold Bond introduced their first lotion and the brand has grown over the years with various products in their lineup. Today, GOLD BOND® features two main categories of products – their medicated line and their ultimate line. In the meantime, I’ve learned a lot about my eczema. I tend to flare up in the spring and fall, the sun and salt water seem to make my eczema almost “heal” and I can sometimes keep my symptoms to a minimum by making a few dietary changes. When I said I tried to ignore my eczema I wasn’t kidding. My feet have been uncomfortably itchy for weeks, and it wasn’t until my pedicurist pointed it out to me recently and asked if I had eczema. I was embarrassed I had let it get so bad, my feet were scaling and no amount of scrubbing or moisturizer would clear it up.
I headed to Target to see if there was an over the counter solution and found with 2% colloidal oatmeal for around $10. I was happy to see a familiar name and a steroid-free option was what I was looking for, so I decided to give it a try. After the first application, my feet looked more hydrated. After a few weeks of usage, you can’t even tell I’m a long-term eczema sufferer. The itch is completely gone, although I do still have some cracking in my skin. I know that GOLD BOND Ultimate eczema relief lotion won’t “cure” my eczema, but it provides relief for my worst symptoms. Along with colloidal oatmeal, also includes 7 moisturizers and 3 vitamins to not only relieve the itch, but also soothe dry, scaling, peeling, and rough skin. It’s even accepted by the National Eczema Association!
But Does Gold Bond Work?
While I can personally vouch for GOLD BOND eczema relief lotion’s effectiveness, you may be happy to hear that this formula has been clinically tested. Here are the findings:
In a clinical study of eczema sufferers: 8 out of 10 saw and felt significant skin improvement in 2 weeks. 8 out of 10 experienced significant relief of dryness, scaling, and roughness in 2 weeks, 9 out of 10 experienced significant relief of redness/irritation in 4 weeks.
Your results may differ, but if you have concerns please speak to your dermatologist. They can guide you on the best treatment for your symptoms. Now, here comes a giveaway! I’ve already told you that the itch that goes along with eczema is my worst symptom, tell me yours and enter to win $100 Visa Gift Card by leaving a comment on this post.

one of my very young grandkids has a bad case of exema – just like you said – it is itchy. But it also looks bad, her head continues to flake (even with the gloves she is wearing) and all her attempts to crawl is painful – but makes her knees seem pretty raw (even when covered with clothes. She has a lot going on for such a young one. Glad she enjoys cuddling as I hope it helps relieve the pain a bit.
