I’m still trying to figure out where my oldest daughter got her artistic tendencies from. My husband and I didn’t stick with music or art long enough to develop our skills. My daughter, on the other hand, seems to have been born with this natural ability to excel in music, dance, and art, so this summer I plan on fostering her creativity by signing her up for those art and piano classes she’s been asking for. When it comes to the apps on her tablet, she gravitates towards the programs where she can create and then show us what she’s come up with, whether it is a drawing or music app.
Crayola DJ is a fun new app that is perfect for kids like my daughter who love creating. The two digital turn tables on the app allow kids ages 6-10 mix, scratch, and produce their own tracks just like a DJ! There are 5 genres of music to choose from and almost 100 tracks to work with. After creating her own beat, my daughter was able to virtually play her music on stage while the crowd around her partied. She loved gaining points for her actions and truly enjoyed pleasing her digital crowd! The vibrant colors that dance with the beat excite the crowd as well as the mini DJ creating the tracks.
There is also a 2 player mode, but we haven’t tried that out yet. This is where you can compete with a friend or family member to see who excites the crowd more. The best part? She can save her music to play later on, show her friends and family, and change up if she chooses. The app is $4.99 on GooglePlay for Android Devices and will be available for iOS in June.

I really like this concept/toy because it is not just a game they get lost in with no meaning. The toy makes kids be creative and really think. As a teacher, I give Crayola DJ an A+.
