Taking prenatal vitamins isn’t something that has really given me a hard time, mostly because the benefits outweigh the difficulties in swallowing horse pills. The first prenatals I ever took were hard to digest and my doctor quickly switched me to another brand. The new brand was prescription only and VERY expensive. My second time around I found generic store-brand prenatal vitamins that were comparable to the prescription brand and I stuck with them because of cost and effectiveness. Unfortunately I found myself much sicker with this pregnancy than with my first, and I couldn’t take my prenatals everyday because I couldn’t stomach them.
When I first heard of Premama prenatals, I thought that it was a great idea, but didn’t really know how effective or tasty it would be. Premama is a powdered mixture that you can add to any non-carbonated drink, including water and juice. I was interested to try them out and see for myself whether or not they were tasteless, as they claim to be, as well as how easy they were to digest. Due to the nature of the nutrients found in prenatals, such as high doses of iron, many women become constipated from their vitamins. Along with pregnancy induced constipation and discomfort, you really don’t want to add more intestinal discomfort from taking a hard to digest pill!
When my samples of Premama arrived, I immediately tried them out. I hadn’t taken my prenatal from the night before, so this was a perfect time to try it out! Did you know that you are suppose to drink a FULL glass (8oz) of water when you take vitamins? I always knew this, but I never do it. I drink just enough to get the pill down. The extra water is necessary in order to aid in digestion and absorption of the pill. Premama forces you to drink that full glass of water with your prenatals because you need to dissolve it in water. If you don’t finish your water, you don’t get the full vitamin. Another great thing about Premama is that since it is broken down, it is much easier to digest than standard prenatal pills. I found that Premama gave me no intestinal discomfort!
Let’s not lose sight of why you take prenatals in the first place: your unborn baby needs those nutrients! Premama is packed with vitamins, minerals, DHA and nausea relieving extras such as Ginger, Vitamin B6, and Magnesium. Head on over to Premama to order and you can even get free shipping!
