My husband likes to make fun of me and my ever-growing bag collection. He doesn’t understand that a bag is something that not only accessorizes, but also serves a specific function. Not all bags are the same, and each bag I have serves a different need. I have a diaper bag (I actually have 5) and I alternate depending on where I am going, what the weather is going to be like, and how long I’m going to be out. I have always been a light packer, but after having kids I’ve learned that sometimes you need extra clothes, “just in case” medicine, as well as other baby necessities. Throw two babies in the mix and it’s like you are packing for a weekend getaway.
Since the parks in NYC have started putting the sprinklers on, me and the kids head out early in the morning and don’t come home until mid-afternoon. We carry towels, a change of clothes for each child, and sweaters- just in case it gets cool. Along with clothing we also need snacks, breakfast, lunch, and drinks. I really don’t want to carry a dufflebag along with me, and until women evolve into having the necessary 2 arms per child, a back-pack style bag is a must.
