My little girl was always really picky when it came to fruits. She never cared for jarred fruit, and she didn’t have teeth until she was 18 months old, so large pieces of fresh fruit were out of the question. I would have to give her fruits that were easy to mash, such as bananas, mangoes, blueberries and kiwis until she was ready to take bites out of pears and apples.
The packaged fruit smoothies didn’t come out until she was completely done with baby food, so when we received some samples to review, she was a little iffy about them. She wasn’t too sure what to do with them, but once she saw her favorite Sesame Street characters and realized the smoothie packets were like straws, she took to them right away. Now, I know you might be wondering why I would go back and give my toddler packaged baby food once she was eating regular foods, and my answer is simple: TRAVEL! We are always on the go. I usually load up my bag full of crackers and raisins for car rides, which are both healthy options, but it would be great to get in a serving or two of some fruits and veggies while we are out. I love that these packets don’t have to be refrigerated unless they are opened, and transport very easy!
Her absolute favorite is the Earth’s Best Mixed Berry Smoothie which contains yogurt too! She loved that her beloved “Super Grover” was on the front of the packaging – and we all know that at this age, packaging DOES sell. I love that although she reaches for Earth’s Best products because of the characters, I feel great knowing that the contents INSIDE the package are always wholesome ingredients.
