Heading to the movie theater is one way to create adventure and a fun family day. January 17, 2014 a new family movie, The Nut Job, will hit theaters. This fun animated comedy is sure to be a hit with the entire family while following the story of a mischievous squirrel and his friend, a rat named Buddy. The Nut Job features voices from Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Liam Neeson, and Katherine Heigl. This is one movie that already looks like a hit the entire family will love, and I can’t wait to take my daughter to see it in the theaters! To get us started on celebrating The Nut Job, I’ve created a fun, kid-friendly nut mix my daughters love to snack on. Don’t worry, this one is peanut free (but it does contain some nuts!)

Delicious Fruit and Nut Mix includes:

  • Almonds
  • Craisins
  • Pistachios
  • Raisins
  • and if you are feeling wild, add some chocolate morsels!

My kids love this mix. I make it once a week in large batches from fruit and nuts I buy in bulk. After I mix all the ingredients together, I make individual bags that are easy to throw in my purse or my preschooler’s lunch bag. There is nothing artificial in this mix, so you can feel good about feeding it to the kids, and enjoying some for yourself too!

  5. Now that the holiday is over, we plan to try to get back to routine. There is a big cold front coming, so we will be doing indoor things to stay warm.
